any one herd of this

Post by runnin4life »

my dad has just put his 80 series cruiser in to get a mount re welded and part of the chassis welded back up and have it all beefed up

what happened was the mount for the pan hard rod?( the one that goes from the diff to the chassis i probally got it wrong) had snapped 95% of all the weldes and the chassis started to tear neer there

how this happened i dont know as my dad rarely did any hardcore

the local mechanic said he had another 80 series come in with the same problem the day after my dad put it in

also every one is telling him its time to sell it now that this has happened

should he

haven't heard of this but i don't know much about 80's.
the arm you are talking about is the pan hard rod. the stops the diff from walk side to side ;)

I have also been told and seen one that has had it happened. Not sure if it is the same one but.

The RHF body mount near the headlight seems to like cracking from stress.

cheers

i used to work as a apprentcie mechanic, we hada few come in for those prblems, we noticed the cruisers which had aftermarket suspension did not have this problem but the cruisers with stock standard suspension had the problem.....

but other than that we were all gobsmakked on wat was causing them to crack we jus re-welded and yer that was the end of it...
