80 series 4.5L range

Post by mabsydney »

Due to the plentiful supply of petrol 80 series in good condition I find myself considering one over a diesel patrol, can anybody tell me:

What sort of range can I expect from a 4.5L petrol 80 series with stock fuel tanks?

How much could I increase this with after market long range tanks?

And, what sort of life does this engine have in terms of no of k's?

Thanks,

Martin

stock tanks is like 90 and 50 isnt it?? so 140 ltrs normally betwen 4 and 5 kms per litre if u drive it moderately.. if u drive it like a girl u might get more..

think dad gets about 600 kms outa that, manual with 285/75's and a roof rack..

its got 360,000ks on it and still goin.. doesnt use oil or blow smoke.. still got plenty of power right to the redline
cheers

No round town,
I do generally use premium unleaded though and have a modified exhaust if that makes much difference.

Hi
I average 20l/100 with mine, (auto) best on highway was 18l/100 and with 260 litres on board, can get 1300kms easy.

Hi Andrew,

How what capacity are your tanks? Does 260km include some fuel carried in Jerry cans?

Thanks,

Hi
the main is 90 and the aux is an out of town 170 litre tank.....so together, with a worst usage of 20l/100, i would get 1300 klms.

had my auto 95 model for bout 2 mths now,
done 120 000kms, gets around 450-500kms off main tank, depending on how heavy your right foot is, highway seems to be much better, stilll standard at moment
