Zook buggy ideas - need feedback
Dewse,
Here's a dodgy line diagram...
triangulated front end, truss the axle, off which you make the upper link mounts etc.
Leaf spring fitted to a pivoting (although I'd limit the availible rotation) upper mount, located off hangers just in front of the diff, keeping the 'field of vision' at the front of the buggy to the max.
Cheers,
Drewfus

I've done some thunking about a transverse leaf before and while it can offer massive articulation, you will either have ariculation and low roll stiffness or roll stiffness and limited articulation.
Could be useful for the rear of a "simple" buggy of travel was limited to provide some roll stiffness.- at least it is simple to tune the rate etc.

You would be refering to this one, which he is re-building

I now have two rear diffs,
1 x Sierra WT with 5.12 gears
1 x Vitara 5.12 with 5.12 gears
Which one should i use in the buggy. The Vit is wider but which is stronger.

Which is lighter?
Aztec used to run vit rear I thought. Could be wrong but that was with 37's.

i think they are the same just wider
but vit would prolly be a bit stronger as it would have more give/twist in axles

Cant bee right
A front vitara center works int the rear of a sierra, and the axel's it the rear of a vitara are bigger than the front.

PS. if you want some stock TJ or XJ coils for freight only email me
TJ stock coils are 1.5" lower than a stock XJ front coil, the TJ coils are softer also.
I would use the XJ front coils and TJ rears as a better combo thus allowing more forward stability.
Anways they are in my shed taking up space.

Vit rears are all the same size 1.09" 26 spline. The fronts have 2 different sizes, the smaller 22 spline and the larger 26 spline. Calmini have just released their Vit heavy duty rear, same size but supposedly 30% stronger ( 4140 chromoly and a redesigned input spline ). If you run an air locker you could get some custom axle shafts made in either a D30 27 spline or D44 30 spline size. Then you could make a full floater at the same time.

After some serious deliberation I've now crossed the border into NSW as i have Hilux 4.8 diffs ready to start building.
Who cares, you can admit they are stronger just look at them.
Hurry up and ust start building
Oh and post more pic's of your other rig!! Their can never be enough pic's of that rig

I never said (neither did anyone else) that zook diffs were as strong as lux diffs. Quite obviously the Lux diffs are stronger than zook diffs but not as strong as the MQ items.
Have had some running issues with the red car, seem to be sorted just need some time to get it out.
I'm going to start building the buggy over the next week or two, will get the parts together to rebuild the diffs etc before i start on the frame.
It probably won't have any zook stuff anymore. Looking at a Lux base so perhaps i had better move the thread??

I'd say make a new thread in the general tech as it is a buggy. This is good zook tech.
