does anyone know how much a patrol weighs?

i was only looking at long wheel base ones any way.

So are Jeep cherokees and good? i have seen a few for pretty cheap dollars.... they look pretty good? Is there some thing wrong with them?

according to my rego and insurance papers my SWB weights in at 2050kgs
A LWB will be close to 2500 or more with the diesel being even more if thats what you go for. Good luck with it

My rego sticker says my Mav weighs 1998kgs!?!?!?

Is your mav a SWB or a LWB. Mine may say it is more to allow for the extra weight of the V8. It may also vary from model to model. As mine is also the XLT.

Ok I was under the impression the LWB would be about 2500. I must be wrong than and so must my rego papers? I might do a bit of searching for this

I thought the LWB was closer to 2500kg too.

Cherokee - monocoque hull construction, there are plenty around that are cracking around the top and bottom of the B pillars due to too much offroad use. Jeep fans may still swear by them, but I for one wouldn't like to consider too much offroad unless it has a seperate chassis.

The other problem with the GQ is the size inside. I'm fairly large, and find the GQs very uncomfortable. Seat doesn't go back far enough, the door handle digs into my right leg and my head almost hits the roof. I simply couldn't buy one cos I don't fit. Every other vehicle mentioned above is big enough for me, it's just the GQ's cockpit that seems to be modelled around a Kalahari Bushman.

The one other you may want to consider is an early Discovery, but it is still a Rover, so if you've been put off the Rangie then you've probably been put off the Discoverys.

My with me in it dual cab weighs in at 2200, with the lightweight alloy tray stripped bare, but normally about 2300 with the tool boxes.

I weigh around 110kg but have no problems with the GQ interior, the upmarket models have bigger arm rests for the power windows and thicker drivers seats, my vinyl floor, rear bench seat poverty pack has more rear legroom than a Ti :D

I've only driven em with elec windows etc. But I'm about 6'2" and 110kgs.

thanks....

a mono coque chassis wouldnt make a huge difference to sand driving would it?

im not that tall so the patrol was no prob for me that way.

For just beach & light offroad, no difference, for heavy offroad it could be a problem from metal fatigue caused by body flex.
