Silverstone A/T

Post by Paps »

I came across a set of Silverstone A/T tyres recently that had an almost identical tread pattern to a BFG. The proprietor said that customers were getting 80,000 K's out of them. Anyone had any experience with either the tyre or the brand I'd be interested to know as they were $50 less each than a BFG.

I was chatting to the guy's from NETA tyres in Brissy, they're the distributors for QLD. There was a comparison done with these tyres and the BFG that they copy. The silverstones came out on top as far as durability goes. They didn't get as many punctures and they didn't wear as much as the BFG's. Your right they are a direct copy in the tread but the constuction is different. The side walls are stronger than the BFG's. ;)

The Silverstones have come a long way and are a great tyre. The AT and MT are well priced and durable tyres...they are just limited by size. If they are in the size you want though...get 'em!

4WD Monthly had them both in the AT tyre comparo they did a year or two ago. Both rated almost identically for their performance on all surfaces tested. From memory I thought the Silverstones only had a 2 ply sidewall compared to the BFGs 3 ply.

The Silverstone AT and MT have a reinforced 2 ply which is as strong if not stronger.

That would be awesome. After testing the Xtremes I was very impressed, as was Daniel (we took him with us). But I did supply Malaysia with a brief on how to improve the tyre. I think some small changes will make it a stand alone product in performance and design.

But not to highjack this thread...the 117, 117 Sport and 117 Xtreme are a different market to the AT and MT.
