35 inch tyres under an 80series with 40mm lift.

Post by persistence »

Hi guys.
Can anyone tell me if 35'x12.5x15 bfg mts will fit under a 80 series with a 40mm lift ? And I heard that 35inch tyres under the 80series might be illegal in Victoria. Can anyone shed any light on these or know where I can find out ?
Thanks.

I run 34 X`11 JT2s under my STD 80 with no mudflaps with a 2inch spring lift and 30mm coil spacers.
Taking that into consideration, I'd say yes. You may need flairs to keep the tyres from protuding to keep it legal though.

Just had a look at your trucks profile, thats a nice set up you've got and the ramp pic and flex was impressive especially with so little susp. mods. Where do you get your mods and work done at ? I'm looking at extractors, 30mm spacers(total of 70mm) and a Lokka for the front diff. Who did your rear bar and wheel carrier. Would like to see a pic of it.
Thanks for the advice.

I have an 80 series with slightly sagging 50mm lift with 315/75/16 BFG AT on factory alloys, roughly 35 * 12.5.
BFG tyres a slightly smaller than stated size and a lot smaller than equivalent marked Simex.
The only rubbing problem I have is when going into a hole too quick, both front wheels can rub the plastic inner guard. I have no problems with turning at full articulation. I did remove a small amount of material from the rear factory mud flaps which got caught occasionally when reversing.

You shouldnt have any probs but I would prob do the spacers too just in case. I run 50mm OME with spacers and 35 Simex, and only touch as per warrent4wd when I hit a hole too fast. Other than that, no probs. As for the legalities, you should prob check out the vic roads website. I have never had any issues with tire size(touch wood) from the roo boys, only lights (position and too many) What can I say, Im scared of the dark! That was a country copper, in Yarra Glen. Let us know how you go.
