been looking for a GPS for a while now and I dont really want to spend big bucks on a unit that I will most likely only use 2 or 3 times a year....
I've got this intake manifold to suit a Chev....
A mate has a Garmin Emap GPS that he wants to swap me for the manifold
He paid in excess of $500 for the GPS
I paid $50 for the manifold...... ( second hand )
The GPS is around 5 years old
The manifold is around 15 years old +
Both items are in good condition ( especially the GPS as it has seen little use at all )
the GPS doesnt come with anything cept the "owners manual"
The manifold goes as a bare item too.
Have rung D.Smith Electronics to get an "in car kit " and they are still availiable for around $140.oo and the bloke I spoke to said that the Garmin Emap was one of the first and best for its time when this model was released. Its accuracy is around 3 metres.
deal or no deal ??????
Kingy
p/s
I've had use of the GPS for the last 3 weeks and cant fault it at all.

Doesn't matter if you buy the most expensive recreational type GPS around. None are any better than 4 metres. I think some claim 3 metres with some sort of trickery calulation stuff. For road navigation it doesn't matter a whole lot anyway.
This is one of the road map ones right? If so how up to date are the maps? Can you get newer ones?
I'd do it for sure. But then I have no use for a Chev manifold

I'm not sure about the maps side of things ( havent searched Ebay as yet to see whats availiable 2nd hand
The guy @ D.Smiths said he'd be able to get most of the things I would likely need for it ........... just a question of $$$$$$

Grab it!
If you decide to upgrade you can allways sell it on here for a couple of hundred bucks.
Asfor accessories to suit have a look down this list on Johnny Appleseed http://www.ja-gps.com.au/catalog-b.html
They still have a heap of stuff available for Emap.

As a confirmed electronic accessory nut, I can say that an emap for $50 is great value. The base map in the Emap includes things like the CREB track in FNQ. All your major Highways, Many of the major arterials through the major towns, and with aftermarket mapping, you can even have a full suburban street directory. It works very well in conjunction with OziExplorer and it can be configured to use the same co-ordinate system as the Topo maps.
