NF heating up

Ok .... my newish engine V6 auto NF 89 is heating up on idle only.

I just changed the clutch fan and seems to be working fine. What i noticed last night (after coming back from Gembrook) is that the water seems to expand into the recovery tank and not go back into the engine ? The radiator is low yet the recovery tank nearly full. When i pulled up last night i could here a slight buzzing/hissing sound from the radiator cap.

Would you guys agree to grab a new rad cap ? anything else you suggest to check ....went over the whole engine and couldnt see any leeks ...... the hose cant be blocked as water is going into the tank but not out ?

Sounds like the radiator cap is doing what it's supposed to (releasing to allow excess pressure to escape) however they are cheap so it can't hurt to replace it.
I would also check your thermostat it could be sticking not allowing proper water flow.
If your not actually loosing coolant due to a leak (only from overheating) then check out your radiator it may need a recore.
Also make sure the water pump is spinning ok, not siezed, belt is tight enough etc.
When are we gonna see this beast ?? Daryus Paj is just like yours, Gen 1 lwb V6, front Lokka, 33" Mongrels = goes very well (just needs gears).

ok .... missus is grabbing a radiator cap this morning for me ..... and yes i wanna see this unique paj of yours frank !

i cant play this weekend ...stock car racing in moama .....

so maybe next weekend .... went out to gembrook last night (wed) and didnt a couple of hills/cliffs i couldnt get up before .... crawled up them no worries

hopefully just the cap - cheers guys

actually a mate and i are looking at doing another couple of hours tonight !! rain for the first time in ages ..might make andersons a lil more exiciting.

doing the trifecta here .....three posts in a row !

changed the radiator cap - no difference. Only starts to heat up once the water level drops in the radiator.

noticed on the new cap though - MUD ! built up the rubber washer where it seals ....

now how could mud get into the cooling system ??? also the green is turning brown .....

Mud? or grease? Oil in the coolant will normally work its way to the top of the radiator and collect as a thick brown gooey mess.

Normally not good thing...

Hmmm either needs a coolant flush and possibly a radiator recore or I'm afraid to say it maybe a head gasket

also milky oil on dipstick ...neither of these two are happening .........

im going to give it a good flushing this arvo .......leaving early from work to get right for weekend (meant to be going to moama)

when u take more phots. be sure to add the engine bay as i'm curious how / where u put the dual batts. What did u move?

No. Stuff will go from high pressure to low pressure.

Bubbles come from high pressure exhaust gas leaking into the coolant.
Milky oil comes from coolant leaking into areas which drain into the sump.
Oil in the coolant comes from a crack between a high pressure oil gallery and cooling system.

You could have a faulty head gasket, or a crack somewhere else. Headgasket is a lesser problem.
