i cant see a problem with it at all....
just u will have to flip it when u fill it with oil.... the oil levels will be wrong obviously otherwise...
just the breathers and the shifter...
PM wendle, he is running a GQ transfer upside down in his buggy.... should have some help for u.

YEP that would be the go.
as long as the MQ front diff had the same ratio as your current rear...
just put the MQ front in and run a divorced MQ/MK transfer the correct way up with standard sort of driveshaft in between... obviously length will need to be looked at but yeh, sounds simple enough if ya know how to use a grinder

Re: remote transfer
Yep the datsun 720 has a divorced transfer. the innards are the same as the mq one but the casings are different.crackajnr wrote:do any other model nissans come with remote transfer cases worth considering.
I knew a fella who had a g60 transfer made into a divorced transfer as well (VERY STRONG)
i have a gq transfer case sitting right here. i split it from the gear box and to me it doesn't look like it would be very hard to make it a divorced case. it has a female coupling to accept the rear output shaft of the gearbox. it shouldn't be too difficult to make some driveshaft flange on there. has anybody done this?
Re: remote transfer
The 720's front output is on the left side aswell isn't it?DR Frankenstine wrote:Yep the datsun 720 has a divorced transfer. the innards are the same as the mq one but the casings are different.crackajnr wrote:do any other model nissans come with remote transfer cases worth considering.

Re: transfer case
Are you dead keen on using the 253 v8? I am currently research a V8 swap for my terrano and I am looking towardst he Nissan VH41DE. So far everything looks the goods; by retaining the bellhousing from the VH41DE it should mate straight onto the gearbox...and then you don't need to worry about the transfer case.crackajnr wrote:Thanks screwy! i have been thinking if i change the front axle to a MQ live axle and get rif of the IFS i wont need to run the transfer case upside down i can just put it in the right way up.
