CARBY FOR A BUNDY

Post by MAMUTT »

Ive got a Bundy with a weber off a cortina, but i wanted to change it back to a normal carby. should i go for the standard to fit my 22r engine? or is there something better out there?

define "better". an EFI conversion is "better" but may not suit your budget. The cortina weber is definitely illegal from an emissions standpoint if nothing else. the stocker carby is good when it works but is very prone to the accelerator pump jet sticking which can in turn cause the throttle to jam open - not so good. The also suffer from premature wear on the butterfly spindle journals and bearings causing air leaks leading to erratic idling and flat spotting. add to that the nightmare of vacuum hoses that goes with the stocker carby and an efi conversion becomes more attractive.

cheers

I got told about the efi conversions, but havent gotten around to sussing out the price.
My 22r is also burning alot of oil, about 1L per week, could that be cause of the webber, or is my engine on its way out. Is it worth trying to change the weber to a carby first???

If the carby is running to rich fuel ends up in the sump which thins the oil out. IE it will burn more.
I'm not stuck I'm over here!
