Clutch Probs.. 1990 Mav GQ

Post by stewie81 »

Hey every one I just got me a 1990 mav TB42.. ;) ? 4.2 petrol. 5spd...

Drama is when Engine is off clutch feels fine.. But when Engine is running the clutch goes all Wierd.. :bad-words:

It only releases approx an inch from floor and occaisionaly it wont allow for engaging of gears at all... BUT it is Fine some other times?

comes and goes any ideas of what this could be?

I am taking the car back to them on monday casue fuel Gauge is not reading right... But I would love to know roughly what it could be so I do NOT get Screwed ova..

Cheers Stewie

Clutch is Vac assisted. Will feel completely diff with engine on and off.
1" from floor is common to many.

Depends on the model. My '93 basic model Mav doesn't have a vacuuom assisted clutch. It's just hydraulic and engine on or off doesn't make a difference.

I understand what u say bazzle but still concernd...

does the following...

When driving the clutch goes to the floor and will allow dis-engage of gears but will NOT allow any gear to be engaged..

driving along in say 4th then you wanna drop it back to 3rd.. put clutch in and gear comes out but will not go into any gear once out of gear..
( not only in 3rd and 4th ) just example.

To fix I have to pull over and keep trying it till it works...

Cheers for all reply's so far
