Insurance for a safari import
Hi,
Sorry about the number of posts from me!
But I'm collecting my 88 Safari next Friday and I want to sort things out ready as I go on holiday shortly after.
NRMA said no to fully comp, AAMI referred me to JustCarInsurance........anybody with a Safari tell me who you get fully comp insurance from?
Thanks,

Just Car are ok. I had a claim on my third party property which they handled without any dramas.

Watch out for just car insurance - they only cover you for for damage on certains roads/tracks apparently. If you have a crash in the bush you might not be covered, depending on if they think it is a "proper" track. Ring and ask them what they determine to be a road/track.... Not much use paying them money if it desn't cover you everywhere you go....
I wasn't happy with their response to my specific questions relating to a few spots i used to go 4x4ing.
A friend of mine was paid out by them when his modded 4x4 was nicked and totaled, and they wern't too bad.
Sorry but i don't have any better options for you. Might be worth asking DGA insurance brokers, based in melbourne. they do 4x4 insurance. see their website - google will help you find it.

yeah just car are pretty good, they replaced the dif and tyre that had no damage "just to make sure" and they were very good allowing me to swap bits like not fix the didestep and giving me cash insted so I got sliders, and gave me the amout they had allowed for the diff and I baught a factory locker one instead etc
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
thanx guys, I've gone with Just car, the premium is pretty resaonsable.
Snatcher, I hear you about them not covering you on bush tracks, but neither did my previous insurer, I think you will be hard pressed to find somebody to cover you offroad. Some will I know, but most won't or are at least limited.
