RETREAD = new tread on the tyre

REMOULD = new tread AND new sidewall. These are more expensive but much less likely for the tread to separate like with retreads.

After seeing a a retread peel off a car in front of me at 95km/hr and the car rolling twice down an embankment, personally I'd avoid retreads...

No, I would never ever buy retreads, just wondering why people think remoulds are still ok.

Totally agree. Would never ever touch retreads & my monoforms will only be on when I go off road.
Will have their 1st test in 2 weeks :D

Got a set of monoform mudders......did a trip to Cape York with 10,000ks and not one punture.

Value for money if they get staked.....but restrictive in size.

So does a particular brand of remould tyre use the same carcase for all it's tyres or could they be different tyres slightly with every purchase.

How and where do they get there old tyres to recycle?

2 of my mongrels are desert duellers
the other 2 are overlanders.
I'm happy with performance, but don't know how they will go with time, only been on 5 months..hard months, tho.

Although I have no doubt a new tyre has to be better and safer all round, it also has to be said that I have had tyres blow out, in a similar way, that were not retreads or remoulds. It was a very nasty experience, and only good luck prevented major damage/injury.
I am glad you are ok, it could have been a disaster.
Tyre tech these days is much better than in the beginning, tyres dont go flat, get damaged or blow out as easy as they used to.
Obviously there could be many reasons for a blow out that include or don't include retread issues.
I had a spare tyre mounted to the tailgate, that had never been on the car, one warm day it blew out in a similar way.
I guess what we do is hard on out tyres, and we should be vigilant.
But of course we don't have xray vision, and there could be faults unseen.
