LC 5 sp gearbox with electric 4WD

Post by gotoy »

HI, just wanted to know which year did the LC's start having those 5speed gearboxes with the electric vacuum switch to engage 4WD. So the 4WD lever only has 2H and 4L...withthe electric switch doing the rest.

around 1984, but it's different for different models, for example 75 series has the fully manual lever well into the '90s.

stick with the manual lever if you have a choice, it's more reliable. the vacuum actuator is pretty good but if it doesn't get used for a long time it can freeze up, and it can get mud/water inside which is obviously bad.

cheers

Gday guys
From memory, the update model 60 series (when the 3f came out in 85) was the first model......as Brian said, better to keep it in manual control if you can...(KISS)
