heater blower motor help

hey i have an ln65 hilux 1987 model and my prob is that when i turn the heater on the relay just clicks i have checked all fuses including the 2 under the dash and am still only getting the click of the relay any help would me much appreciated cheers

Relay can click and still be buggered.

You need to apply power directly to the blower motor and see what happens. If it doesn't blow... repair or replace.

can i bypas the relay if so anyone have a diagram i just want to dodge it up for rego

for a road worthy, it simply has to be an operating fan that will blow warm air up the front windscreen, so if you position selector for the air/heater core works, and the fan works(by hooking direct power to it) all you need to do is run a power wire through a toggle switch (which you can latter use for lights) stright to the fan and the other side to earth,, should not be a prob if the only speed is flat out as long as you can on/off it whilst driving.. i am sure thats all that is required in a roadie,,

If the fan works when you bypass the relay you should just buy a new relay for six bucks and put it in.

Sorry I can't advise on how to bypass it because I have no idea where the relay and/or fan would be located in your vehicle. They are usually a bastard to get to though.

the fuses are behind the clove box, i think my problem may be that a white wire in the fuse box is not connected because i have the fuse box and loom out of the car n alot of things rewired

I asked if it was only a single speed fan because manufacturers often use wire wound resistors (located in the fan ducting) to control the speeds. These will often burn out, resulting in the fan not working on one or more speeds.

Could be something else to check.

I did a "how to" in the Daihatsu forum for the Feroza, but the photos have all since been lost due to the many crashes the site has had. The resistor pack looked exactly the same type as in that link.

I used some big mother power resistors for the replacements (the big expensive looking alloy heatsink type- rated at over 50 Watts each.) No way they will ever burn out!

if you want to fix the fan prob without altering the wiring, turn fan on and see if your test light lights up on one of the plugs onto fan motor,(if you do have power at all speeds, remove fan and either see if you can free it up, or goto wreckers, or new) if the fan is only reciving power at speed 4 or even 3 & 4, then you gotta replace fan & resistor block. also if 12v is not present at 3 of the terminals on the relay then do the relay, after this if no solution, then all you have left is fuse - to - relay or the actual switching mech itself, unlikely but maybe.

sorry, missed this post,, you think this white wire maybe the fan power supply wire,, did you try run power down it to get a reaction?
