I'm chasing around for a Toyota 22R to match with 4WD hilux 4 or 5 speed and my dual case setup.

Is the 22R the same engine in 2WD and 4WD hilux? mainly concerned with the compatability with the gearbox.

you can get the same engine in corolla's too :oops: there was once in the trading post last week for 500 bucks, efi , 2.4L petrol, i was going to replace the carbi unit in my bundy with that one but i don't have the cashola atm.

I think you mean the 2.4 litre efi engine came in the Corona not the corolla.

the sumps and oil pick ups are different. thats about it as i could see

They all use the small hilux gearbox G52 I just fitted one to my hilux and used a marks adapter to the surf gearbox.
I'm not stuck I'm over here!
