Thank fish for the info on Hobzees team. You are doing a great job keeping us all informed . Clint sound like he is in his element. He Looovvvveeessss the 4x4 life. If you have met him I'm sure you will understand what I mean . I'm sure there will be many a story to be told over a few Jimmy cans!

And to Tough nut. You have done a great job on even entering. Dont let anyone try to take away the fact that you and your Navi even gave it a go, (more than the computer potatoes did) The sponsors wouldnt have sponsored you if they didnt believe in you, regardless of what setbacks you endure. I speak from personal experience. I compete in a different type of sport (nothing like this), but it takes a lot of money and hard work to get to where you are.

I have been trying to post pictures but they wont go on is there a size max or some trick to it???

You probably need to resize your pictures, before they can be attached.

From memory the maximum size is 640 horizontal pixles and 480 vertical pixles. There is also a file size limit, but I can't remember what that is. Also restrictions on the file type - jpeg is ok. The file name should be preferably be short and spaces are not allowed in the name.

Below the box where you type the message there is a button marked "Choose" - press this button then navigate to where the picture file is saved on your computer.

After you select the picture file, press the button marked "Add Attachment". It will take a short while for the bulliten board to upload the the picture.

When the picture has finished uploading, you will see the file name listed and can choose to attach another (limit of 2 or maybe 3 pics) or submit your post.

If you try to attach a pic that is too large or wrong format, it will give a message on the same screen, but you need to look carefully for this message as it is not obvious.

IMO, OBC being an endurance event and such a huge event
being known by the world and having such a huge entry fee and all
theres no way in the world i'd be pulling out. seems a bit soft IMO
worst case senario i'd make my navi drive and navi for him

So if you were the Navie and had Tendon Damage in your Ankle as we now know was the problem would you be happy to continue?

strap me up and keep on goin ...
his injuries sound more complicated and extensive then tendon damage tho

This is one thing that pisses me off, people that don`t have`m think they pay for everything and you get to compete with it costing you nothing from your own pocket . Myself and the Trudi's first met Clint, or Keithy as we know him, along with Big Pez at OBC in 2003 and have been friends since. I'm sure he is in his element and we will be catching up with him after the OBC for some jimmy Cans for sure

I have tried to compete 3 times at the OBC. All without sponsorship and your right it does take a lot of $$$$$.

The first time we completed the event and came 13th and were very happy.

The second time we destroyed our front diff housing and bent the rear and our event ended on the Tuesday night.

The third time I went to navvy for 80UTE from this board and got through scrutineering only to get a call to say his mother was extremely ill and he had to rush back home to Victoria.

So 2 times I have had to pull the pin on this event with many dollars and man hours invested and let me tell you those decisions wern't made easily and it really disappoints you.

I guess what I am saying is even with giving it a go, a few times, the last thing I would do is flame someone for pulling out with an injured navvy. No doubt it would have been a hard decision for Toughnut and I'm with Toughnut, put your money into next years entry and give it your best shot rather than sitting at home flaming those that are having a go!!!

i know hes giving it a go and i congratulate him on that
when i got the info down the grape vine it was a "rolled ankle"
it is now clear that the navi's injuries are more extensive
i would say more then tendon damage down to ligaments and possibly broken bones ... unfortunate for them better luck next year

IMO rolled ankle is soft ... others may not think so ...
I would persist on as best i could if i was in the situation but thats just me
and i could possibly be subject to the same situations in the near future
as my navi and i have had plans to enter for a while now and will best prepare for it

It would have been just as big for his Navi would I bet feels like shit for what happened, probably feels like he has 'let the side down' (no hes not lettin the side down by any means, but I bet thats how he probably feels).

Sorry hoonz, but you really need to confirm your rumours before you call anyone "SOFT" (from the comfort of your computer chair aswell...). To clear up any rumours, there has been an extensive ammount of torn ligament, which is what you could call rather painfull. The decision to retire from the event was a team decision, it was the last thing both steve and I wanted. Yes we considered me going to the wheel, but that would have been extremely dangerous to a $70,000+ car(and my foot) so we was decided against it. At the end of the day, it was VERY dissapointing for me to end our trip knowing exactly how much preparation has gone into it.
