"THE AMAZING RACE" FOR 4WD DRIVES (QUEEN'S B'DAY J

Post by NavRun »

Just like the TV show but in your 4WD, you look for a box at a GPS location and in it will be an envelope with your name on it. There will be an instruction to do a novel 4wd activity then instructions to find your next destination. Over 3 days you will experience the Sunset Country & the Big Desert in Victoria's Nth West. This will be right up there with the greatest 4wd adventures you can have with family and friends.

You will be navigating, looking for clues, follow instructions and conducting bizarre exercises along the way. There will be all sorts of twists and surprises but unlike the TV show, nobody gets eliminated.

So long as it is reliable, virtually any 4wd will be up to this one. There should be no need for scratching or damage and even off road camper trailers can be dragged along. There are no classes or limitations and all we need is for drivers to be licensed and vehicles to be registered.

Bush camping at night in different locations so you will be packing up each morning and taking everything with you. No night activities other than social camp fires. No catering provided so BYO food, water, etc... The course layout will accommodate service stations/general stores for refuelling and supplies.

What do I need? Firstly, it is one 4wd vehicle per team although there is nothing wrong in pairing up. But all vehicles must have a GPS, UHF radio, basic recovery equipment, tough all terrain tyres such as Pro Comps and a great sense of adventure. Winches and diff locks will not be required. Greater detail will be available upon entry.

What is supplied? Other than an excellent time, all maps, notes, etc are provided for each vehicle. Prizes and trophies are awarded up to 10th place. Presentation of awards will be at a local watering hole at Murrayville where an all you can eat buffet meal will be provided inc. in your event fee.

The cost is $320 per vehicle, regardless of how many people you squeeze into it. The entry fee covers 2 adults for the buffet meal. Any extra persons over 10 years is an extra $15 each. Under 10 years of age is $7.00 per child.

For more details call NavRun Headquarters (Rudi Paoletti) (03) 9789 6985 or email me on navrun@netlink.com.au

Does not effect car insurance. It is not a timed event and state and town speed limits will be in force, etc.

No need to panic.

That's cool. Thanks for looking out for us.

Like with all our events we try to steer away from the timed event side of it so all can enter, as we want to push new comers, experienced, unexperienced, stock or standard vehicles, etc , etc. if you get my drift.

The only event this year that will be timed is the 4 Day Outback Event in November Cup Day.

Just bought a heap of digital cameras which will be used by competitors.

Going to check out the lay of the land on our way back from Outback Challenge - we have a NavRun stage in OBC.

We have many surprises installed for the Amazing Race and much of it is kept under wraps. There are many stages/ checkpoints, etc with all sorts of tasks to do with man and machine.

We used to use Polaroid cameras for our Navruns then we turned digital. Hobbsy ( the other half of Navrun 4wd Events ) wanted to also use these cameras on particular stages for the Amazing Race.

we are aiming to get about 30 teams.

still vacancies available, we anticipate a lot of last minute entries.

If you haven't done an event before, this is a perfect oppurtunity to enter.

It is not timed. Points are gained through special stages and checkpoints. There is no rush to get to the next checkpoint/ stage. We are also trying to involve the kids in this one as well.

we are wanting this to be an annual event in Victoria. If all goes well with the Navrun at Bathurst we also hope to incorporate an Amazing Race style event also in NSW. So if everyone can support us, pass the word around it would be appreciated and if we get numbers for sure we can do it.

Being doing Navruns now for a couple of years. The only events we ever do now, and many times we bring our little kiddies along because these events cater for everyone.

Cannot wait for this event, something really different again and I know the guys from Navrun won't let us down.

Had a brainstorming session this evening. Hobzee's stage setting juices are flowing strong.

There has been nothing like this one. Marshalls are set and being looked after. If you look after them during the event ...hick... they will look after you...

Not planning on night stages - going to do the camp fire thing instead.

Although we have an excellant number of compeditors there are still a few vacancies.

I'm leaving in a couple of hours for Ouyen. Will be finalising the course then meeting everyone at the Dimboola Caravan Park Friday night.

If anyone still is interested in competing just give me a call on 0428 534102.

Next year this event will be even bigger and better. Just like the 4wd Monthly Cliffhanger event we have sponsored by 4wd monthly, there will be huge sponsors pormoting this event , I could probably say along with this event and our Navruns pretty much full house each time.
