Sierra Wheel n Diff Side Bearings

Post by christover1 »

Interesting discovery, while wandering round the garage fixin me wheel bearing.
Some of my diff side bearings are same part number as the wheel bearings I just pulled out. (this will save me dollars as I have some good ones)
Not sure which diffs are what, but I think the Sierra diffs have same bearings as their wheel bearings. (assuming whoever fitted the wheel and/or diff bearings fitted the right bits)
and it must be the LJ diffs that have different bearings. (a point to note, as they look very much the same to the eye, and I hope I put the correct side bearings in my diffs)

well me diff bearings are now fitted into the wheel bearing spot, right
or wrong, it appears to be OK.

I got to collect some brake pad clips from Joey, now, as they went west
when bearing collapsed...pads are a bit suspect, too.... It also took out
the spindle and hub, luckily I have a garage full of bits (mostly
joeys:) )

Maintainance is a much better idea than repairs ;)
