ive got a 2001 model rodeo i want to fit some bigger rubber under heaps of room at the back cause of heavy duty springs and the tray is sitting pretty high aswell. i was wonderin if 31's would fit if i wound the torsion bars up abit if not all the way if not id goto a 30.
then that is another question how do i wind these things up ive read how to do it somewhere but then when i went to do it it looked nothing like what this article was tellin me to do??

yes 31s will fit no probs i have them on our 99 on nissan offset rims but not for any real reason thats just what i had as for winding up the bars i measured both sides from ground up to bottom of guard then hoped under car go to the back of bar were its fits into the adjuster and there will a bolt on it facing the ground put shifter on it and start turning cant remember which way is up but you should beable to tell once you start going one or the other it will go up or down now to be fully honest with you ive never did the 99 myself i had my tyre shop do it before i had a wheel alignment done i wanted it done and checked properly as my wife drives it 90% of the time but when iwas in my minitruck days i had done a few just the wrong way anyway i hope that helps

oh rightio i didnt think the tyre shop would do it but if they do it id just get them to do it so its done right. is there much room in there when the 31s are on ya wouldnt have a photo would you?? i have a arb bar on the front since its gone on it seems to be weight the front down heaps cause i havent got any weight on the back 90 % of the time just some tools in my tool box

Here are some pics of my 97 Rodeo with 31in MT/Rs with Navara offset 15x7 rims. I've also got an ARB winch bar. They rub on the styleside tray though. Mine is lifted about 1 1/2 inches as I just used standard Jackaroo 5 leaf packs. Fitting 40mm body lift in a couple of weeks. Just got my approval from DoT.
This shows that the tyres sit right on the edge of the guard. This is the rear as my front wheels were not straight but you get the idea.

This is what you need to wind. Look underneath your ute in line with your front door handles. From memory clockwise is up and anticlockwise is down.
You won't have any trouble fitting them. There was a guy living near me that had 32s on his pre 1996 shape Rodeo and he didn't think they caused any trouble. Didn't look like he had much lift either.

Mine is the 2.6 4 cyl petrol. The exhaust I only just had done recently. It is only 2 1/4in so it's not as big as it looks in the pic. It was 2in standard before hand.
I originally only got the 2 1/4in pipe and a triflow muffler which was fine but it droned when the engine was labouring so I got a resonator fitted about 3 weeks ago which you can see in the pic. With the resonator it still has a good note but it cut out 99% of the drone.
My personal opinion is that the motor revs more freely with the new exhaust but that is just subjective. I didn't get extractors as the exhaust shop reckons the manifold on these motors is pretty good to start with so long as it doesn't crack which they are known to do.

Had a look at my truck tonight and yep its the same as whats in that photo so ill see how i go tomorrow afternoon in the daylight ill wind her up abit..
as for my exhuast id hate to be the bloke that does it cause there isnt much room to move in there beside the engine the 3.2 takes up alot of room in the engine bay.. im not sure what i should do really i havent even thought bout it that much but its commin time to seriously think bout getting something better done.. what was the price like on yours??
as for wheels and tyres im going to get the same wheels but bfg all terrain because i do alot of highway drivin and dirt outback roads. how much did you pay for your rims and you say they are navara rims so i should ask them to put them on..??

I am pretty sure your truck is identical to mine apart from the engine and a few small cosmetic differences.
The exhaust cost me about $200. Not exactly sure but that would be close.
The wheels are ROH Tack II 15x7 Navara offset. Tyres are 31x10.5 MT/Rs. My last set of tyres (still in the garage) were BFG A/T 225/75 16s on the factory rims and they were great on the road and pretty good in the Qld dirt/rock but chipped badly when spun on the rocks. The sidewalls scared easy too. Just enough to make them look crap but I never got a puncture in 70k. The MT/Rs on the other hand are noisier on the road but fantastic on the rocky stuff and I have yet to scare the sidewalls on anything. In fact they still look brand new after about 10k.
Sounds like the BFG will be perfect for you. I was thinking of getting some more BFG A/Ts for my old rims and running them as my daily tyres but I am too lazy to change them.
The wheels cost $55ea and the tyres $244ea.

Not the same for both bars. Pretty sure that you need to wind in the opposite direction on the other side to get the same effect - ie: one side will be clockwise to raise and the other will be anti-clockwise to raise.

Those bolts seize very easy, I hade to oxy one side of on mine, from memory around $40 per side for the bolt and mood shaped nut.
I also fitted HD bars as standard one can sag a bit with a steel bar etc

When I originally cranked mine they were stiff but not seized. I got an approx 30cm long combination spanner onto it and it turned it. I managed to brace myself against the floor and push against it with my boot. Apparently easier if you jack the ute up and get the wheels off the ground. Makes sense I suppose but I have never bothered.
I still have the standard bars on mine with an ARB winch bar and Ox winch. I think it is 70-80kg all up. Plus an extra battery. They haven't appeared to sag.
Don't forget to get a wheel alignment before you drive it too far either. You'll wear your tyres pretty quick otherwise.

I have fitted 235\85(32's)cooper ST to the standard rims and dont seem to have much scrubing
dont notice the diff with the 3.2 still pulls hard and tows well....
speedo seems out a bit but thats life....
