Cheap HP from a 3F?

Cheap HP from a 3F?
Anyone got any ideas?
Extractors & new system are definitely the best bang-for-the-buck mod on these engines. You'll also find that it wil rev _much_ more freely once its done.
I'm still looking at throttle body injection & electronic ignition for mine.

many others probably want to know

Wanna make me a minifold? Also, does anyone know how much the electronic ignition is worth or where to get it?
will have to have a look and see what the best option is - full custom manifold, modify the stock manifold or build an adaptor. from around $150 for a simple adaptor. you have to add plumbing for air, oil and possibly water.
cressidas are pretty common at pick'n'paymore, probably $100ish for complete electronic ignition - dizzy, igniter and coil.

I might steer clear of the turbo just for longevity and insurance reason. Apart from that, the bidding has gone wild lol. So the cressida dizzi will fit straight in?

I doubt it's a straight bolt-in, I think you have to transfer the guts from the cressida into the cruiser dizzy. I've never done that exact swap but have done a few, there is always a bit of weeping and gnashing of teeth to make it fit.
a cheaper alernative would be to get a HEI kit from dick smith/jaycar - about $70, uses the points to trigger a transisotr ignition, but the points don't wear out because they're only switching a few mA instead of 5 - 10 amps.

Tell me more, tell me more... Someone mentioned 3-5 pounds, what would the carby handle though, that was mentioned when I asked?
Small blower would be easier to fit i recon, just a couple of brackets, and you get to leave your manifolds alone, for those with extractors its even better...
My theory anyway...

On the subject of Injection, I was thinking of copying the idea in the nissan bible, and using the throttle body of an EA falcon. Designed for a 4Litre(ish) engine and relatively easy to graft in with an adapter plate. As I am not in the automotive game I'm still gathering info on what is needed. Obviously one would need the throttle body, computer, harness & sensors. Is this a realistic project - or just too much agro ??

Yep thats the way I would go.
Stuffing around with the timing would the biggest thing.
I did a heap of research on this and in the end found a 4.5 litre 80 series engine/gearbox at a cheaper price then the EFI conversion would be.
Altho, I wanted to turbo the old girl (had another 2F to go in) as well. I made the manifolds and all but I went the MPI route with an EF top half of the intake and made my own bottom half.. pix attached bolted to motor, i had it welded up after this pix but still needed die grinding.. Now all just sitting in the shed - 'o well

Dave
actually i looked at this as well and there are a few floating around in OZ still operating in the early 80 series, but very rare as wreckers want an arm and a leg if they have them.. only ever located one that was for sale after months of searching and i think the dude wanted 1K for it.
I didn't go any further as the ports are a different shape to the 2F, prob is a good option if you can source it cheep enuff.
