G'day,
I have been putting this off for about a year but am going to have to replace my clutch in the next few months. I have replaced a clutch before but not in the feroza and it was a while ago.
Just wondering if anyone out there has done it themselves at home and what problems did you come across... I have a compressor and a rattle gun to get the flywheel off and on, are there any other dramas?
How did you support the gearbox and trans? did you remove them as one? What sort of weight do I have to deal with here?
I havent as yet checked the manual either but will do so before getting into it too far.

I've done it and it's pretty easy. All ya need is a smallish trolley jack, Jack it up to the crossmember, rip the drive shafts out, unbolt the bell housing bolts, unbolt the cross member bolts and then slide the trolley jack back carefully and lower it... Presto your gear box and tranny are out!
Don't forget to drain your gearbox first otherwise it could get a little messy. I found that its pretty well balanced and the crossmember mount so just support it on the the jack and you shouldn't have any worries.
Replace the spiggot bearing (the one that sits in the end of the crank) while your in there too. Even if you don't think it needs doing, replace it. Mine was fine before I pulled the box out, it felt fine when it was all apart, but as soon as I finished the job and started the motor it was whining.

trolley jack. You can lift em both up, two guys can move it around and put it in a car. When you go to put it back in, I found it easy to have someone in the car and have a rope tied around it to lift it up while your underneath trying to align it.Croz wrote:How did you support the gearbox and trans? did you remove them as one? As Dave also said, replace sprigot bearing while your there.
The top bell housing bolts are hard to get to. We took the bonnet off and sat up in the engine bay.
Take a photo of the throw-out bearing / fork operation before you take it out.
