Front cut and half cut to my knowledge are the same, you pretty much get the complete front half of a vehicle that has been writen off, engine computer, harnesses. Not sure whether you would get gearbox or suspension though. Long motor should get you starter alternator and manifolds, short motor just the motor bare.

I could be wrong with this no doubt other will be clear this up.

A front cut should include the gearbox.

A long motor doesn't mean you will get any accessories like alternator starter, a/c and steer pump.

A short motor is the head and block.

I thought a short did not include the head, ie: short. long being taller, and including the head.

agree. a short motor is basically a bottom end, a long motor includes a head.

I always thought short motor was just bottom end, no head or accessories, well, that's what I've got when I've brought them from engine rebuilders.

Long motor got you a head all ready to bolt in but for accessories.

Long Motor= Complete motor including all bolt on accessories.

Bare Long Motor= Complete Motor Less Bolt Ons.

Short Motor= Bottom end only no Cyl Head.

To add a few more-

Engine to Suit Rebuild= Just needs rings and bearings.

Engine to suit Reconditioning= Engine that could need Pistons,Rods,Crank and even the Cyl head replacing.

Supplied Rebuilt engine= Second hand engine that has had rings and bearings replaced.

Supplied Reconditioned Engine= Engine that has had everything machined/re-sized and new pistons/valves/cam etc.

These are the way most Wrecking yards sell all these.

Engine suit rebuild = I drove the crap out of it after the steam stopped till I noticed the smell, looks ok and it still turned over 2 years ago :D
