You are right since the thermocouple housing is plastic. While the probe might be cool with 1200C, the wires and housing will melt off the end. Still, it does not make the kit any less "good value". Use the stock thermocouple for air temps etc and get a proper high temp unit with long cable for EGT.eliteforce32 wrote:can i just say one thing about the jacar kits, they are a great kit but the claim of 1200*c thermal coupler/s is just a big fulse lie

I would be interested to know where you got your thermocouple. My Denco turbo kit has a plug in the dump pipe where you can screw in a probe so I will get something made to suit.

Was talking to the place that Simon mentioned in Brisbane and for around $77 incl GST they will custom make a thermocouple to suit the application with a lead as long as is necessary with braided lines and other good things for anti-heat that the guy mentioned.
They were able to fit one in a compression fitting if the thread on the manifold was a standard thread, otherwise they could use the bolt out of the manifold and drill it to suit the thermocouple and weld one in place.

OK, an update for everyone.
The place that Simon was talking about is
Pyrosales P/L
Unit 1 Lot 3 70 Flanders St
Salisbury, QLD, 4107
Australia
I have also found another place down here in sunny Melbourne:
Industrial Thermocouple Supplies Pty Ltd
39 Macquarie Drive,
Thomastown, 3074 Victoria Australia
Phone: +61 3 9464-6700
I have not got a concrete price yet but they are talking around $48 for a thermocouple in a 1/4" BSP fitting with stainless protected cable. I will update with more accurate price later on.
