GQ's with tough dogs

okay, putting a set of tough dogs on a GQ, and with the cuttin recuired, and the spacer they supply, it seems to sit pretty close to the diff, and springs,

is this normal?

my procomps hit the springs when goin rank off road and thats with a 5" lift

i've changed the rear lower mounts to the snake items ...
also raising the top mounts 100mm to suit... seems to have moved the shock away from the coils

ozy they do run real close.. i have the big fat ones on my shorty and ud be lucky to have a couple mil clearence around the back coils..so far so good though. have had no hitting or rubbing or binding issues..just cut and space where ur supposed to and u should be fine. . the rear drivers side shockcontacts the coils very occasionaly when u flex it up hard but it just pinches the rubber boot between housing and coil.. still allows shock to work fully

also a place where they get close is around the front radius arms.. make sure if u got the fat tuff dogs that the adjustment knobs are not to close to the radius arms or they wil be sheared off

On the back diff one or two washers to help space the shocks away from the diff and grind of the back of were your bump stops hit on the diff because that is what is going to damage your shocks. The springs usually only scratch the shockies.

Pretty much what has been said before, I trimmed the bumpstop pad on the diff and used the washer supplied to space out the shock and nothing touches, except the tyre on the chassis at full stuff

ok, well it said to trim 10mm off the bumpstop pade, so i trimmed 18mm off to be safe, i also used the surplied washer to space it out, this is all on a shorty, so ill see how it goes.

It would be a good idea to replace your lower tailing arms with longer one's, this will rotate the diff around giving you more clarance between springs and shocks.

This will also help if you having problems with driveline vibrations

I bought a 4" lift kit from BBM over 12months ago that was supposed to comprise of kings springs and rancho 9000's. I paid a premium pice for it and waited almost 2 1/2 months for it to be delivered and low and behold I got fricking 4-way suspension stuff. Tough Dog Shocks and 4-way Coils --Which have sagged like a motherf&*ker in the rear I have 30mm spacers in and only justs sits level unloaded, evidently I never tow anything or load up with anything. This brings to mind a little value for money issue but nevermind...

Yeah I undertook all of the things you were saying here ground off bumpstop material etc.. I am running a D/C setup in the rear, this requires the housing to be rolled up, the tough dogs caused all sorts of contact dramas. If they were a slightly smaller shock perhaps I would have 'gotten away' with it for a little while longer without rotated coil perches and shock mounts... Which I would of had to do anyway but I could have left it a little longer...

AFter driving around in my old mans shorty with his F.A.T procomp/lovells gear from binskins I would not buy anything else. Procomp es9000's rock azz...

To answer the question tough dog shocks are big and hit things...

As I said they are big and I have had a few contact issues with them with coils and such. I also don't like how they sit on the original mounts with the spacers on. ie; there isn't much thread left if you know what I mean..

Hmm, i got TD coils and foam cells on my SWB and they are fine.
As far as i can see any way;)

I'm guessing that the problems with Tough Dogs touching is only on the bigger bore shocks (ralph), and not the cheapo foam cells that Dieselboy and I run (well cheap compared to the Ralphs, but bloody dare for someone on my wages )
