I got sick of looking for the right adjustment tool, so i went hllbilly and used a chisel to loosen the lock nut
Now...
My injectors were done about 7500k ago, as well as the pump, and i want to crank her
I ran all last week at ormeau with it turned up (who knows how far) and the power was fu(kin cool, but he smoke was damn black, and Cut4b in his Soft top Zuki wasnt a big fan off it from what i heard over the UHF (I couldnt actually see him)
So how far is to far, any ways of adjusting this quickly if i want to change on the side of the road without an EGT guage.
Also, with an EGT guage, what sort of temps am i aiming for and what is standard? its an 84 G pac HJ60 (2H) done 150 000 odd since eng rebuild and 500 odd since INJ pump and Injectors.

go by the smoke. adjust it until it just starts to make visible black smoke, then back it off a quarter turn. any more fuel than that is wasted and is actually costing you power as it displaces useable oxygen from the cylinder and prevents more complete combustion of useable fuel.

I would like to adjust my 2H as it doesn't smoke until 3000rpm at full throttle and gets excellent economy but won't pull 2nd low range up hills off road.
Can someone please explain from the beginning exactly what needs to be done to adjust the pump so a numpty like myself can do it without screwing anything up?

all 60's have a 90 litre tank (approx 80 safely useable litres).
the pump adjustment probably shouldn't be attempted by window licking numptys (no offense intended), but if you need to do it, you should buy or construct a three-pronged wrench so you can unlock the delivery adjusting screw. once you can undo the locknut, adjust the screw in half-turns, clockwise is LEANER, counterclokwise for reicher. ideally you will use an EGT gauge to show when the mixture is right, alternatively, aim a mirrir at the exhaust pipe, you want a barely noticable amount of black smoke at full throttle, under load, say 2500rpm in 3rd gear up a hill.
this all assumes your injectors are in good condition - if your truck smokes all the time, it is probably because the injectors need servicing.

Exactly, Usable Litres - A bone dry tank is never bone dry, theres always fuel left in a tank, sometimnes not able to be pumped up for use. Most manufacturers go by how much the tank holds, not how much is actually used before the pickup runs dry.all 60's have a 90 litre tank (approx 80 safely useable litres).

A lead foot can do that in diesels. Usually it's with 3B owners tho :)
I got about 11l/100k's after a service recently (plug for Lance at 4WD spares and Repairs) on the highway 110k zone mostly (Brisbane to Gympie).. 20l/180k.
A friend with a 45 troopy will use 14l at 105kmh and 11-12l at 95kmh. You just have to let it do its thing.
