Snatching in a Sierra
gdfgfd
i've snatched a 75 series cruiser tray back out of black soil, i was in it too!
also a shorty 40 out of some deep mud! depending on how bad the other person is stuck, a little sierra is capable if your smart and sensible about it. (ie, dig first etc. etc.)
i've been bogged a few times, and just getting out and rocking the zook is all thats needed. only a handfull of times i've needed to be winched out, as snatching didnt work.
oh yeah, i dont drive a sierra either, i drive a vitara that weighs 1080kg. weight is an advantage, but not always essential.

speed helps.... sometimes
i have pulled out a 75 series landcruiser that was bogged in thick mud
took a few pulls but eventually got it.
But i needed a bit of speed to do it. Dont forget those snatchies can take like 4 tonnes. And the zuk weighs like 900 to a tonne. So that extra 3 tonnes comes from your run up.
Speed is your salvation

u can near pull anything out if u "have" to.
last weekend i drove round (in the same mud hole) and hooked up and aftern about 10 attempts, snached out a 80series with 35's and a 400 chev and it was very bogged, i was the only one who could get round him to pull him out... the only thing was the snach i pulled him out with,
i backed up basicly to the hole and gunned it in low 1st, and i recon i exteded my chasis about 2 inches lol
but i did it,
neva underestamate the power of a zook

Ljxtreem pulling out me in my 2500kg+ Gwagen, on the axles, the chassis on a rock, and uphill for a recovery with his 1.0litre, pretty much unladen, on mud, with an open rear diff.
Oh, and I pulled out GaryinOz's dead kia ( not running and very stuck) in Micks 1.0 too, so clearly it is a pretty cool recovery machine.
Sure, I've pulled out plenty of heavier cars with my sierra, but micks recovery of the G was a massive effort. The sierra was stopping so hard when the snatch went tight then he smashed the radio with his knee. the G was moving about 5-10mm per pull. Awesome.

I pulled a toyota landcuiser down from the southern end of stradbroke island. All the way to dunwich to get the ferry, Then towwed it to beenleigh. That was a mission. His brakes didnt work properly cause the motor was stuffed. Used heaps of fuel, thats about it, but it was worth it for the looks on the landcruiser owners eyes.
Re: Snatching in a Sierra
My mate in his zook snatches heaps of 4bies out.... GU Patrols.. my80....foad wrote:What sorta car's have you guy's snatched out in a sierra before (1.3L) ?
Would you be confident snatching a larger car like a patrol with one?
Cant be scared.. the zooks love it !!
Here is a big landcruiser that got bogged a fair bit, it sorta needed to be dragged through the bog hole its in in the photo. It had brnad new 38" silverstone extremes on it to. Funny thing was it had no bump stops on the front so on full extension the front tail shaft would rub on the bottom of the enigne, just beofre the very last boghole coming out it finaly wore the hole way through, so we poured 10L in and drove it though with just enough oil, then it needed to be towed a few K back through the track with a few more small holes and up a short hill by another zook,(i wasnt wrecking mine) it took about 30+ snatches to get it up the 1 small hill.
But the zook made it in the end
Thats the southport lagoon track in the photo btw...[/img]

My mate has 31 x 10.5's on his zook.. (they are bigger than the 32" mongrels).. and his zook loves it.. he has 2" body 2" spring and 2" shackel extensions.. and they fit nice.. only touch a bit on full lock..
