You are crazy for mounting such an expensive amp on two speakers that don't really need it in a place where it's bound to get farked!

Why don't you just run them off your deck?

Angus350: It did block the sound enough to notice a difference. If I didn't have someone in the back seat I would just fold the rear seat down, when I parked I would fold it back up so the speakers wern't as noticable.

I use the car for work i usually drive about 100ks most days and b4 i started taking it 4x4ing it wasnt a concern but rather than remove it completely for the 3-4 hours a week that it goes offroad i just made it some what waterproof. the amp come from a subwoofer setup i previously had in my fairmont and decided to use it in the zook to get the volume needed from the 4 speakers to overpower the SCREAMING 200,000km old tranfer case... damn transfer case...

i reckon 6" in the front doors (kick panels if you can bare to have your leg on it all the time) and 6x9s in the rear on at least a 45w x4 deck... 50w deck better. Im running a JVC Mp3 deck from a few years back, 45w x4 and the speakers dont distort much at all - and when its loud enough that they are, i can be heard coming up the street from about 150-200m away...

I've got a 23W RMS x 4 deck, 52 max. Sounds pretty good but I've got no name speakers up front at the moment. Distort badly when at highish volumes.

Anyway I'm thinking of chucking them in the tailgate now. What exactly did you guys mount them to ?

and did you put deadening or mdf or something in the tailgate interior ?
