Big descision Landcruiser Hilux $10,000

Post by Mud_5lut »

Let the rivalry begin.
Now Now look my brother is new to the game and wants a ute to throw S%#T in and come 4being with us just to beat around the bush in. Now He has 10k to spend as shown above, i was showing him the cruiser cause i LOVE-EM but he could only afford the 2hz (4litre). Herd some really bad stufff about em.

Now the LUX could get him a better cond lux than cruiser for his cash but he want a bit of grunt, offered to turbo it but doesn't want to pay the insurance ( PUSSY ).

All opinions would be great but its gotta be a ute.
Thanks All.

i dont know anything bout that model land cruiser but i would still get the lux there are a great truck bit slow but tough as nails and most of the time go any where and the right model and you shouldnt have much probs with them.and for 10k you will get a pretty good one.

Well I have to throw my 2c. Its got to be a lux, and with 10k you should be able to find a v6(holden) one? or maybe even a lexus one (not sure how common they are on your side of the ditch). But if you do get a repowered one, make sure you get the right gearbox behind it. ie not a w56 or a g52. hope that helps, im sure there will be many emotional replies to this thread.
Cheers.

if its a hilux diesel, my insurance said it didn't affect my policy if it was turbo'd or not. (i think its becase diesels are slow regardless of turbo or not)

Mines Turbo and no extra on insurance, turbo's on diesels don't make em rocket ships, just make em more responsive and better torque when pullin up hills, Luxs are a good truck, there's plenty of parts around, greater variations of gears, and you can get most parts from any model to fit, for 10K he should be able to get a 2.8 diesel either dual cab or ute, maybe even with lockers fitted, for goin bush, a lux with a 2.8 diesel and lockers and some good barwork will go just about anywhere, you don't need big lift, and cause of their simplicity much easier to modify if you do.
Try not to let your mind wander...It is too
small and fragile to be out by itself.
