Me FJ60 is feeling small and inadequate with its little 31x10x15 muddies on. She told me she needs to stand tall and proud on some 35x12.5x15. Gotta keep the old girl happy.

So my little question (sorry if some one has already asked...I searched hard) is to do with 7" as oppsed to 8" rims. I'm worried I will get too much roll on the 7s. What can people tell me from xeperience?

BFG reckon minimum of 15x8.5

I have been running the 35's on an 8 inch rim with no problems for years. wouldn't go for 7' rims though

I found that alot of the 12.5" wide tyres recomend 8.5" rims, but i have ran mine on 8' rims no worries.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)

im running 38.5x12.5 on 15x8 reverse dish rims and they are good. I have in the past ran 35x13.5 biasclaws on 7s but no gooda, to much balloon action and tire roll. You can quite happily run 35BFGs on 8 but i wouldnt recommend 7s

Definately go with the 15x8 rims.
To maintain the strength, safety and achieve the best performance/handling out of your tyres, they have given minimum and maximum rim width guides for all tyre sizes. Yes you can run them on rims outside of this guide, however all the above-mentioned aspects will be affected.

I run mine on 14psi offroad and lucky at the moment. :D

16x7s will hold the bead tighter, protect it as well as the side wall and further expose the shoulder for extra traction. I have run 12.5s in comp at low pressure with no bead locks, plenty of V8 grunt and have never lost a bead.

It is against manufacturers advice though and may effect your insurance.

The center of the tyre wears faster on the 7". The theary being that the slimmer rim pulls the edges up so the foot pattern of the tyre is rounded. Might be better off road as with Simons experience, but will wear center faster on road. Go the 8" I reckon.

8" is the maximum u can run on the road.

i run 8" rims on 12.5" wide mt/r', i run mine on 9psi, haven't rolled one off yet.


but my next rims will be 10", fuck the RTA

You meant 16x7 right? That sounds a bit outlandish as to what the rest of the people are saying. I would like a second opinion as to the reasons for this size rim if anyone is interested. Cheers SANGA

I ran my 38 swampers on 15x8's today at 10psi with simex tubes and they were awesome!
