Just tried and experiment with lpg fumigation in my 80 series 1hdt. On the graph are before and after power and torque figures at the wheels. The only difference is the vehicle running on lp gas. No other sttings were adjusted.
It does work, 20%more power and torque. Will set it up properly on the vehicle to road test and see the difference.

First of al the graph is done with the vehicle in 4th gear, full throttle all the way through to the end. It shows that adding more fuel down low doesnt do anything with power as the turbo charger will only spin up at as fast as its design will allow, this means its at its limit. I will get a boost graph to show this.
To fit lpgas to a diesel has to be done by a specialist gas fitter in accordance with each states laws.
Negatives: some extra weight and cost of the sytem.
Positives: More overall milage, better fuel economy, a cleaner running engine, cleaner engine oil, cleaner exhaust emissions, more power and torque.
The gas is not injected into the combustion chamber, it is added as a vapour into the inlet system before the turbo charger. It should not be done like this if an intercooler is fitted as this can and will cause explosions of the system.

what sort of regulator are you using to regulate the supply of gas?? also what size oriface into the intake tube, is it a variable regualtor or fixed. I plan to do this to my TD42 shortly, I am a mechanic on the northside of Brisbane, we are soon to get a dynamics dyno (deposit paid) so I was holding off till then

I spent awhile searching the net to try and find a suitable regulator that would be variable and have some sort of boost pick-up so that the amount of gas flow was increased with the amount of boost produced. (sort of load sensing)
However I have failed to come up with anything that will seem perfect for the job. I am currently looking through a heap of sites with nitrous regulators/controllers on them.
