they are 5.26's hilux diesel are 4.3's so if your planning to run like 35's or bigger go for it.. otherwise your top speed will be 80km

They are 5.29's, apparently weaker than 4.88's or 4.3's though alot of people report otherwise.

No they arent all 5.29's, or are you talking the hiace trucks. I have pulled three out of early 80's Hiace vans(petrols) and they were all 4.375 ratios. The first one i got from the local wrecker for $45, but he said for that price you can pull it out. No problem. The one in the front of my lux came from a hiace as well, that one was $150 tho. ID plate below the passenger seat will give you the axle code. Also the Hiace 4sp internals will fit the petrol hilux 4sp (L40). Externally they look nothing alike.

Hiace vans usually have 4.375 diffs ,older ones with smaller motors had 5.28 and I got a 5.7 out of a hiace tray. They should all fit in your hilux

I have a busted 83 Lux that for some reason the previous owner fitted two different ratio diffs< I suspect the rear was stuffed or geared to low for the turbo engine with 4 speed box, I was looking for replacment diffs and found that the Hiace had the same diffs, Hilux diffs are advertised for $250+(seen them as high as $1100) each, yet I can buy a clapped out van for $100,
I was looking at maybe a couple of old late 70s-early 80s vans just for the diffs, anyone have a link to diff ratios used in Hiace vans with each engine type and YOM

I'll be looking at fitting 35s to this thing so would be looking at 5.29 ratios, it's not going to be a daily usage vehicle so highway speed won't be that important, low gearing will, fitting a 5 speed and TD engine from a surf

the 5.29s only come in one or two models of hiace vans, and its proving hard to find the 5.29s these days as everyone with a lux is buying em

The 5.29 diff ratio's are from the 12r eqquipped hiaces (late 70's model). came across this by researching some mods for my f20.
