Some LWB's have 1.3's in them.
A LWB is possible with $2500, especially an early one.
Mine is 83 LWB 1.0litre.
My mates is 84 LWB 1.3 litre, so somewhere round there is the change.
Later ones went back to 1.o litres, and are Marutis.
I have seen 88 LWB Sierras tho.

If he only has 2500 i rekon SWB or LWB wouldn't matter unless he wants to spend a fair bit on it in the future, the SWB ones are fine for normal 4WDing.

for $2500 he'd get 2" of extra height, not much more.

If he does it smart way, for that much money there isn't much you couldn't do. By the smart way I mean do everything yourself.

For the grand sum of $2000 I got a '93 Maruti LWB. So... yes $2500 will get you into a driveable LWB as long as your happy with a NT with 1L motor.
Cheers...
