Who's got a heavy right foot?
Who's got a heavy right foot?
I was tinkering with my drover the other day, and I came to find out that when the accelerator pedal is to the floor, the throttle is about 3 quarters open, and goes pretty hard for even that. Now, I knew that some people have been known to stick something underneath they're accelerator pedal so as not to be as hard on the car, but it got me thinking. Setting the pedal up so it doesn't open fully would have great economical advantages. Has anyone done this on a car? or has thought about doing it? Probably not, just something that crossed my mind.
I can only speak on my zook. I had hammered firewall/floor up a little bit each time I put bigger tires on etc. I had not noticed the gradual loss of power till I put on the 31 Mongrels, when I realised I had lost throttle travel. I checked by flooring the pedal, then went under bonnet and found that on the carby there was heaps more travel left. So I spaced up the pedal with a metal washer/spacer thing till pedal floored = full throttle.Crawford wrote:is it possible to get more acceleration and speed out of ur zook by making the accelerator pedal higher or something?
does it actually work? or is it set to maximum acceleration the way it is?
Made a hell of a difference, 2nd stage of carb now opens, too

dont you guys have that plate with the adjustable screw on the floor???
when i had my carby done the guy puts something on the accelerator so its flat to the floor then adjusts the cable accordingly so the carb is fully open... might be an option for you guys eh?

i had to beat in my firewall also, and i did initially loose a bit of accelerator travel, but after i took the stop out, and smashed the bracket flat, it was all good again. i havent checked to see if my carby open up fully on floored to the floor, but it was ok for me.
