I've got an 85 MK Patrol shorty and I've got 2 problems.
First problem is there is a loud metal clunk. I hear it sometimes when cornering, and always when reversing out of the garage. As I'm reversing I turn the wheel all the way to the right and about 3/4 of the way i hear a big clunk. It's been suggested that it could be a suspension rubber, but i have no idea. Any suggestions where to start looking?
The other problem i have is when reversing there is some sort of resistance. It's never there when i'm driving forward, only in reverse. Its like sometihng is sticking, and the car sort of shudders, still revereses but something isnt right? What should i look for there?
Any help is much appreciated!!!

i can help you with your first clunk they are standard on older MK/Q's mine used to do it exactly the same as u describe it, it just means that the leaf spring bushes are flogged out so put a bush kit through the front springs you can pick them up for around $30 on ebay

It's a 4 spd box. I'll get on to doing the bushes - thanks.
Other thing is was just looking through these photos and in the linked photo, with the wheels turned it looks like one wheel is turned less than the other. Is this just me being completely stupid? I just went and had a look and it seems the case to me. Also when the wheels are straight the passenger side front wheel sticks out about 10 - 12 mm more then the drivers side. They are the same tyre and from what i can tell same rim? Any suggestions??

Isn't that what you call ackerman angle? It is normal. Lets you track properly around corners. Clunk could be spring bushes or dodgy body mounts. Does the clunk get worse in the wet?mr_skater99 wrote:It's a 4 spd box. I'll get on to doing the bushes - thanks.

92 NH Pajero, MQ Patrol 50mm lift. One has custom rust, dents & rattles, the other has a blown engine.
Front Bushes
Anyone suggest somewhere to get a front bush kit? Been looking on ebay, but can't find any. Have emailed a few sellers with similar product but havent got a reply. Im in brissy, but postage should be bugger all. Clunk is giving me the s#%ts...
