G'day.
just recently after coming back from LCMP my 5speed in the bruisers been grinding/whining mainly in 3rd 4th and 5th, related with engine speed, and dieing down when the clutch pedal is pushed
ORiginally thought- Oil level, and it was a bit low (gearbox) and dirty(rear diff).
Changed 'em over.
Na, noise is still there...
I've done a fair bit of mud work, maybe some materials lodged on the clutch/ pressure plate? or spigot/ throwout bearings?
Havent had the problem before as much as i have since playing in mud at LCMP, where i did a lot of forward/reverse action in one certain boghole, and im also sure both of my rear driveshaft pinion seals are leaking before i went up the park.
Or is there any other reason/ideas you's have?\
Sorry for the long message, appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Ben,

Silly Q, but did you check the t/case oil level?
(some ppl dont realise that its separate)
Hang on, dies down when the clutch pedal is depressed. Is that whilst still in third/fourth/fifth and still rolling? Probably the throw-out brg.

Yeah, my Middy sounds like that too, sounds a lot like throw out bearing in mine...
But then again, I have no oil in either box or tranny, so I also have extra noises...
But I do have a locker now...
Remember how bad my dif sounded coming home from Ormeau that day, it popped around the corner from home...

yeah checked t-case, its all good, checked my hose between the two, not blocked still working alright, i was thinking throw out bearing, but may as well blow the gearbox, i want a real good reason to pull it out,a nd since the dodgy brothers did a clutch before i bought it i can't even use that excuse
Meldge, i rememebr yours mate, the only car ive ever been in that when it stopped making a noise it was time to get worried
I climbed under mine today, thoguht id give the unis a shake, at the rear diff end the entire pinion has a fu*k load of movement... could be the reason?
