Full Floater Rear Axles.

Full Floater Rear Axles.
Who's interested ??
These are mainly for the 3.0 V6 guys who run 33"+ tyres & rear locker who have busted rear axles.
Basically the hub is made hollow and internally splined the new HD axle has an end cap which is bolted onto the new flange. It is removed by unbolting the end cap off the flange and then sliding the whole assembly out (same as a Cruiser). This set up takes a lot of load off the axle itself.
For a 3.5 V6 it would be the same the hub spline would be the same it's just the diff end which is different to the 3.0 axles.
A batch of these type of axles were made up recently to suit Rangies and work very well.
Also the assembly can be removed and standard axle assemblies re-fitted.
I've got to provide a test axle first for assessing and pricing but obviously would work out cheaper if others were interested.

Well as long as the $$$ are right i am in, 2 axels this year are 2 too many. Any word on when/if the axels are going to be finished from gelong?
Cut down Sierra cab on extended LWB chasie running, Hilux front and Bundy back, with a 4AGZE should be finished about umm soon. A 60 Series work truck and some go fast toys too.
Mate it's not gonna happen with them they are 6 months behind he tells me so I organized something else.
One of my axles is twisted so I'm just replacing that with a 2nd hand one for the moment until the full floater ones are made.
I expect the cost of these to be around the $1200/set mark or there abouts. As I said they can be removed and the standard assembly put back in so at least you can sell them and get some $$ back if you decide to sell the truck later on.

Mmmm kinda guessed that, last time i rang them they told me 2-3 weeks away which was what they said the first time (2 odd months ago).
Can you explane the floating axle to me again i am a bit slow but it sounds like some thing i will be saving up for. What sort of time fraim are you looking at.
Your rear locker is it factory or ARB? if factory where are you getting your axles from i cannot beg buy or steal one up here and its giving me the shits. I ahve a standard (80) one and will be cutting 20mm off it tomorrow, hope it works, got to get my car dirty again.

How many will be made and will there only this batch made up?? Just trying to figure out which stuff i should buy first after i get my mitsu in correct running order. 6 months out should be good enough and that puts it before rubicon hmm
89 3.0 2dr auto, locked, tbars cranked,2"BL, 35's rollbar no top aisin hubs
Yeah I have an ARB in the rear so it runs the lsd axles.
I got a spare set of lsd axles from a local wrecker for $125 Ea.
Try :-
Mitsi Smart Parts (Jeff) - (03) 5334 1806 (he ships stuff to QLD)
Imlachs (03) 9552 1999 he definitley has the 3.0 locker axles but wants around $250Ea and he ships stuff all over the place.
Patrick, 6 months will be fine once he checks it out and costs it all up I'll check the interest and see how many we get.
But the original idea was a once off for my truck but if others are interested then why not.

Hekta thats the great thing about forums you can spread the word and gauge interest for group buys etc.
It also helps immensly with tech development & sharing imformation etc.
Out of 25 sets of the 2.85 gears there is only one set left !!!!!
These have been bought by people in Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Poland, US, Norway and Japan absolutely amazing...............................
I thought Mark would be stuck with these for ages but the internet is a wonderful thing eh
Basically that has given us heart to continue on with the 3.15 gears.

Hi Patrick, still in progress mate.
We are looking at using Toyo 80 Series hubs but if they are too large to fit through the drum handbrake then custom ones will need to be made up. The spindle (which bolts to the axle flange) will be custom anyway as will the axles.
The wheel end of the axles will be held in by a circlip with a end cap (sealed with an O ring) thats if we go custom otherwise they will be the same as a Toyo ste up.
Like all things it takes time and preference is given to their core business to make $$$ this project is more of a favour to me so it's done in spare time. But the aim is to make it a kit form for sure.
