ok i have just scored myself a daihatsu rocky and am already thinking about modifying it. What is the biggest motor i can fit in it in qld (street rego) and what size tyres would be the best to put on it? Has anyone put hilux diffs under their rocky (spring over ) and is it worth it
this is what i have scored all i had to pay is storage costs of $150

my 2c:
2.8 rocky diesel either turbo or na is good enough.
or fit 3.6L chevy V6 into it.
in regards to diffs, offset transfer makes life difficult but try bundy,
60, 80 series. (if central u cant go fast without vibrations n stuff i think)
myself, ive measured out some mk patrol diffs and are goin in when i get back from cruiser this weekend. a bit heavy but should work with superior drop shackles betta

its got a 3y in it at the moment but i was thinking of putting in the rover 3.5lt v8 as they weigh in at about the same weight but with a lot more power what are your thaughts on this idea and is it feasable on a small budget

If you are going to do a motor swap, make the effort to also use a different transfer or gearbox, cause rocky's have a pathetic crawl ratio from the factory. 31's is probably th biggest tyre that is worth running with std gearing. A diff swap (lux or similar) around 4.8 and a rangie v8 and auto would give much better gearing to run large tyres. What tyre size and type do you want to run anyway??
