Steering help needed
Ok im running a zuk buggy with hilux diffs running TJ coils with a triangulated front end no panhard rod which works fine .Steering is a falcon power steering pump and box turnning circle suks but can live with it running 38 tsls on bead locked rims.Im useing a WJ cherokee drop pitman arm with jeep tie rod at that end and a hilux tie rod at the other end of my custom drag link. This attaches to a flipped up standard hilux swivel hub arm which sits ontop of the original swivel hub arm giving me high steer .Ive taken the original studs out and have replaced them with 8.8 hitensile bolts still useing the tapperd washers on the bottom swivel hub original arm.The problem im having is that i have now broken my second set of all four retaining bolts thus haveong no steering .I cant see how these 4 bolts are loading up as the drag link is nice and flat and the tie rod should compensat for any turning motion. It dose appear that when driving deep cross ruts articulating the car fully i get bump steer were the front diff moves slightly through a rotating arc as in when the front drivers artics fully up it seems to push the diff back and pull the passenger side forward .Any help would be of great assistance as its got me stumped thinking of now going full hydro but would just like to solve the problem
hehehe GOOD LUCK duncan
your setup would have massive side force on the steering "flipped arm" because of the triangulated front suspension (bump steer)...... best fix would be FULL HYDRO
i have a " flipped arm" on my cruiser , the bolts i used are rated higher than 8.8 BUT i also used both sets of cone washers with a sandwich plate between the two arms to ensure the bolt tension tightens the cone washers correctly . your setup ( unless i read it wrong ) allows the top arm to move a little .... that plus 38s plus triangulated suspension bump steer
GO FULL HYDRO ........ its a buggy , isnt it?????

Is it possible that becuase you are not running cone washes the arm is coming loose and causing the bolts to break??
I am running a fliped arm but I retain the cone washes as the top arm is welded to the botom arm.
I agree full hydro would be the way to go!
So you are not selling the zuk now?
Chris.
