Good quality steel wheels

Post by Utemad »

Hi Guys,

I'm not buying any but I just wanted to know what brands make a good quality steel wheel.

I was shown two ROH Track II 15x7 rims on a balancing machine today and both of them had variation between the edges of the rim. As in the distance between the areas where the bead sits varied.
Not good when you're trying to get a good balance.

The tyre guys reckon that the rims are cheap and that is what they would expect from these rims.

I had some CSA Ranger RV steel rims and they were impossible to balance due to sideways runout at the rim edge. The replacement set they supplied was just as bad.

Ended up getting my money refunded and bought alloys instead..... No more balance problems and improved ride.

If you're referring to the wheel bearings thread then yes this is all related.
