Just get it degassed if it has any in it. Especially if it is R-12 as this is ozone depleating. R-134a should also be recovered but is not as harmfull.

some of the gasses cause testicular cancer so vent and run. watch out for the green dye they use to trace leaks you don't want it on the garage roof

although R134a is not ozone depleting, it is a significant greenhouse gas, and its release to the atmosphere should be avoided at all costs. releasing the 300g of 134A from your car air conditioner is roughly the greehouse gas/carbon dioxide equivalent of burning a whole house down.DAZZ wrote:Just get it degassed if it has any in it. take it to an auto electrician who does air conditioner work and get them to suck it down, it takes ten minutes and the cost is minimal.
