read the 'axle' code off the production plate on the firewall, and post it here, and someone will magiacally convert it to the ratio for you.

G143 translates to:

G: 8" ring gear
14: 4.875:1 ratio
3: 2 pinion, limited slip carrier.

which is a bit of a surprise, I thought 22R powered luxes had 4.30 or 4.56 diffs.

the information came from here http://www.off-road.com/tlc/faq/faq.txt

then i wouldnt trust the axle code on the body, prolly best to lift a tire and turn it 1 full rotation and count how many times the drive shaft goes round, of trun the shaft and count how many turns to turn the wheel once

you wont be able to tell the difference between 4.5 and 4.8 with one turn of the wheel

do 10 turns of the rear wheel and count the number of times the tail shaft turns, will take 2 people but youl be able to tell the difference between 4.5 4.6 4.7 and 4.8 ratios. (45 turns of tailshaft for 4.5 ratio etc)
