Modification Laws Information Session(QLD, Bris Mitchelton)
On brisbane Extra last night there was a bit on vehicle modifications., mainly sports cars.
Anyway The police are holding a modification information session at Brookside shoping centre This Saturday 18th from 9am - 2:30pm.
Quote ( they will have displays and plenty of information about whats legal and whats not.)
may be a good chance to let them know how hopless the department of transport is and possibly get some facts on what is and what's not legall.
Maybe a load of shit as well, but worth checking out I reckon.

why wouldnt they be doing that?foad wrote:Classic if they are booking people for illegal mods on the day.
Im think its worthwhile going along. The new modification guidelinhes do not state anything about raising your vehicle, only reducing. So it would be nie to get clarification on this.
Heath & Melissa - 93 GQ LWB.
how about we make a list of q's on here, take them along, and we all just listen to the answers together on the day.
save them explaining it many times to each of us, and covers the fact i'd be likely to forget to ask something... and it means a lot of witnesses

Better still, ask if you can record the answers - so we don't have 5 people saying 5 different things.Thor wrote:how about we make a list of q's on here, take them along, and we all just listen to the answers together on the day.

That would be nice to get to, but I have to work dammit...
This should be good, and if they are handing out booklets (on mods), grab a few, I'd like one to read...

They had Transport Dept guys there.
50mm spring lift is maximum legal.
50mm body lift is max legal, and you can have both.
Tyres can be max 1.5 times the width of original spec (off road passenger vehicle) but no more than 15mm greater in height.
(Can you get 215/70/ 9.5 tyres for a zook
)

90 WT Tin Top - Stock noisemaker and gears :(
Nothing has changed then, I heard rumors that sounded interesting the other day...
Most cars come with a tyre size placard on them, however those that don't, you can do as you wish.
Yes 1.5 times blah blah blah, but if there is no placard telling you of standard trim, then off you go, can this be verified?

Any proof?Meldge wrote: Most cars come with a tyre size placard on them, however those that don't, you can do as you wish.
Last time I read the rules, they just said - 1.5x the width of the widest tyres fitted by the manufacturer, and 15mm larger than the largest diameter fitted by the manufacturer. No mention of tyre placard.
