water leaks in cabin

Is it common for water to come in on a sierra? I have a soft top but seem to always find a puddle on the footwells. Any idea where it could be coming from?

ok I'll TRY to actually be helpful then

Chect the door rubbers, especially around the top of the b-pillar. Mine are old and I get mucho leakage there

Also how old is your soft top. Age wearies them and they start to not fit right or be a few mm smaller tan they used to be.

Check these things first

its most likely coming from the heater vents, they block up with mud and crap, and overflow....not sure how to fix it tho

if the vent on the bonnet is clogged with crap, water comes in behind the dash... have a look, shove a screwdriver in there and clean it all out... worked for me - stopped me blowing fuses all the time cos of water into the fuse box too.

After last trip into southport (~2-3 months ago) whenever i turned on the heaters for weeks steam would pour out and it still smells like burning mud lol

Oh and whenever i pressure wash my car i always manage to put a good 3" of water into the passengers footwell... not sure where its coming from either?

derelect frog - see my post above - bet thats what it is =)

wesley on these forums told me he recently pulled the hoses behind the dash off and found they were packed with mud and sand etc... after cleaning it out he said it worked much better.

if the water is coming in and its not clogged its probably that the water pressure is so high its pumping so much in there it cant escape fast enough and hence flows in anyway.

You will likley find that the drain holes from the grill at the base of the windscreen are blocked.
I have used a bit of electrical flex to clear them out
They normally should exit from the two little rubber elbows half way down the firewall (engine side)

Stick it in from the bottom and gently push it up .. take it slow you dont want to knock the hoses off under the dash or you will need triple jointed wrists to put em back on .. you will likey find that the will be leaves, mud and all sorts of crud blocking em up ..

Speaking bout the heater box and drain hoses mine leaked between the hoses and the box, used sealer on em. Still was leaking so pulled the whole assembly out and found the rubber seal between the bowx and the vents in the body wasnt 1 piece, it shrunk a lil wif the gap at the rear of the box. So naturally rain would come thru the vent on and angle, as it would when you drive in to the rain and straight thru the gap in the rubber seal.

The drain pipes behind the dash on mine weren't blocked.. they had simly just fallen off, so I put them back on and secured em with cable ties.
