Dual Battery in 4.8 GU - SOLVED

Post by gu4800 »

OK, purchased a Piranha DBS today and am looking at fitting it.

The car is a 4.8 GU Patrol, manual without ABS.

The "detailed instructions" provided with the battery tray are not quite detailed enough. It simply says to "relocate the charcoal canister and cruise control", but I can't see where to!

Has anbody fitted one or had one fitted to this model. I have already removed the charcoal canister, and the tray fits in perfect in the factory holes (except for two holes to be drilled in the firewall seam).

Just chasing some advice before I start pulling more stuff off the car. It looks like I have to "trim" some of the metal piping running into the canister (I haven't even looked at the cruise yet).

Any advice would be great. Pics even better.

Thanks

EDIT:- PROBLEM SOLVED

Easy solution - ditch the Piranha battery tray and buy the ARB kit. The ARB kit comes with everything - and I mean everything. 2 full pages of instructions, all brackets, hoses, etc, etc, etc, The ARB kit made this a very easy job, and it is the same price (actually $10 cheaper!) than the Piranha kit!
