Last i heard was that 9mm was the minimum for comps although this was a while ago. I run 11mm plasma and was prepared to lose an extra couple of metres on the drum over running 9mm.
At the end of the day, your winch rope is always going to be a couple of metres too short when you really need it!!!!

Make sure you clean the rope religeously after using it though. I was amazed at the crap that came out of mine after OBC. For those that don't know how to clean the rope it's real easy. Get 2 buckets. The first one full with a little bit of truck wash or detergent. The second half full with clean water. Unspool the entire length of rope and slowly feed it through the soapy water whilst bunching up the rope to loosen the fibres and anything caught in them. As you feed it through the soapy water, feed it into the clean water bucket. Once all the rope has been fed into the clean water bucket, tip out the soapy water and replace with clean water. Repeat the process by feeding it through the now clean bucket whilst bunching up the rope to make sure its clean and you can either just feed it back onto the drum or attach it to a tree and let it dry first. You'll be amazed at the amount of crap (and size of crap) that gets stuck in the fibres.

Add some washing powder to the washing machine, add rope, turn on washing machine & enjoy a beer while it washes itself. If the misses doesn't like the idea, sorce out the laundramat anduse their machine.

Your all domestic pussies, just chuck it in the laundry basket, it appears a couple of days later washed and neatly coiled on your half of the bed.
You can help by suggesting that a mesh type delicates bag be used so it dosent tangle the machine agitator up and you dont have to spend time or money fixing it..
