Thanks

sorry I mean the fuel shut off and glow system, the problem is that there is no power getting to the fuel shut off solanoid or the back of the fuse, it also appears for some reason that the tail lights are tied into the wiring and I am still trying to figure out what the turbo timer is wired intodumbdunce wrote:looking at the wiring diagram, there is next to nothing running off the 'ECU' fuse - there is not acutally an engine control computer - the only things that run off that fuse are the glow system controller and the fuel shutoff solenoid. without actually seeing it I'd suspect the shutoff solenoid has an intermittent short circuit.
shoot me a PM or email if you want me to come and have a look.
cheers

EDIT: ok I read the rest of your message, it's a bit confuzzing... what do you mean by "rack"?
Thanks, the one on the GU is pluged in the harness.dumbdunce wrote:straight from the digi cam to you.
the wiring for the turbo timer is my guess (based on the hundred or so I've installed over the years) - this is how most of them are wired. the good ones just plug into the vehicle wiring harness.

Nope, it appears the previous owner has wired the tail lights ito the circiut somehow and there is a short in that sectiondumbdunce wrote:did you get it sorted?
I have been all day pulling out all the kustom wiring in my rolled 80. it's quite a pile of wires when you put it all together in one place
if you need an 'emergency' fix you could attempt to isolate the circuits (ie pull the fuses) then you should be able to run it by running a hot wire straight from the battery + to the fuel shutoff solenoid, and using a jumper lead from the battery + to the glow plug bus bar for cold starts. quick and dirty but it gets you on the trails in 10 minutes.Tiny wrote:Nope, it appears the previous owner has wired the tail lights ito the circiut somehow and there is a short in that sectiondumbdunce wrote:did you get it sorted?

I will move the tail light circuit off the engine circuit today and put it on a spare fuse then I can track the tail light issue out while its isolated and not causing engine no running type fustrationsdumbdunce wrote:if you need an 'emergency' fix you could attempt to isolate the circuits (ie pull the fuses) then you should be able to run it by running a hot wire straight from the battery + to the fuel shutoff solenoid, and using a jumper lead from the battery + to the glow plug bus bar for cold starts. quick and dirty but it gets you on the trails in 10 minutes.Tiny wrote:Nope, it appears the previous owner has wired the tail lights ito the circiut somehow and there is a short in that sectiondumbdunce wrote:did you get it sorted?

tail lamps have their own 10A fuse that runs off a different circuit, completely different fusible link to the glow/start/run system.Tiny wrote:I will move the tail light circuit off the engine circuit today and put it on a spare fuse then I can track the tail light issue out while its isolated and not causing engine no running type fustrationsdumbdunce wrote:if you need an 'emergency' fix you could attempt to isolate the circuits (ie pull the fuses) then you should be able to run it by running a hot wire straight from the battery + to the fuel shutoff solenoid, and using a jumper lead from the battery + to the glow plug bus bar for cold starts. quick and dirty but it gets you on the trails in 10 minutes.Tiny wrote:Nope, it appears the previous owner has wired the tail lights ito the circiut somehow and there is a short in that sectiondumbdunce wrote:did you get it sorted?

It did but its been pulled off and the conector was cut back at the tail lampsdumbdunce wrote:tail lamps have their own 10A fuse that runs off a different circuit, completely different fusible link to the glow/start/run system.Tiny wrote:I will move the tail light circuit off the engine circuit today and put it on a spare fuse then I can track the tail light issue out while its isolated and not causing engine no running type fustrationsdumbdunce wrote:if you need an 'emergency' fix you could attempt to isolate the circuits (ie pull the fuses) then you should be able to run it by running a hot wire straight from the battery + to the fuel shutoff solenoid, and using a jumper lead from the battery + to the glow plug bus bar for cold starts. quick and dirty but it gets you on the trails in 10 minutes.Tiny wrote:Nope, it appears the previous owner has wired the tail lights ito the circiut somehow and there is a short in that sectiondumbdunce wrote:did you get it sorted?

does it have a trailer connector? sometimes when they are full of crud they will blow fuses.
I know, its v strangeBigMav wrote:Tail light circuit should not have anything to do with your fuel problem. Like already said just unplug the wire that goes to your fuel cutoff solenoid and use some wire with alligator clips to jump straight off the battery if you need a quick fix. I did this for a few weeks while I was busy with other things. You'll just need to disconnect every time you turn it off.
