The smoke has escaped !

Post by Loanrangie »

Ok, due to a non original ignition switch put there by a previous owner, i had a short and the smoke has escaped from the main power lead from the ignition switch to wherever taking the plastic sheath with it ! So i need to know where this lead ends - its the thicker brown one.

thanks.

I have got a couple of manuals but they dont show exactly how it is routed, it disappears down near the bottom of the steering column, thought i could get an idea before i unwrap the loom.

Sorry dude same deal, no routing, though when I was cleaning up mine for RWC, I found thick brown wire running in the loom part that runs out towards alt, dist. Not 100% on that though, it was a little "burnt" possible smoke escape in the past?

I thik it may run out thru the firewall and split to the starter and alt, i'm gonna have to split the tape and replace the wire anyway so i guess it wil be a search and replace mission.
