Just wondering if I flipped my rear zook diff over, welded up the breather ( which would now be at the bottom) made a new drain hole, and turned the old drain hole into a breather, would this work? I will be fitting the rear disc brake conversion at the same time, and I cab't se any issues with flipping the diff this way ( so the left hand side then becomes the right hand side and visa versa).

I realise the front would be more complex to do tho.

Opinions?

To save a lot of trouble , I suspect that the diff head would fit in upside down , then you would not have to weld up the drain holes etc .

Alas doing this or flipping the diff makes it run backwards !!!!!!!

you've gotta make sure the diff can still get the gear oil it needs. Also, you wanna watch how much oil runs down the tubes if it's upside down...

How many times does anyone actually hit thier pinion anyway. I don't think i ever have. Better off building a stronger housing or shaving it I think, unless you need a better driveshaft angle...
My tires were rubbing in the front, so I trimmed the hood, and now they're fine...

Unless I´m even more brain damaged than I´ve previously realized, flipping an axle would result in it turning backwards???
Or am I missing something here?
Are you talking about just flippping the axle HOUSING and using a differential thats meant to be "upside down"?
Othervise I´m pretty sure your axles will have a great bloody tug of war trying to pull apart your Zook when you put her in 4WD. In RWD you´ll have 1 speed forward and 4 or 5 reverse, depending on your gearbox.
Correct me if I´m wrong on this, and explain, in simple words, how it woiks!

You are right, it will be running backwards. You would have to do both front and rear diffs, then rear or mid mount the motor, so it faces the otherway. This is what the buggies are doing in the US. I heard a rumour that there are a few of this style of buggy getting around in oz now too...
