I have an 86 sierra on my property that has a weber and i cant really find any dramas with it.Other people have said starvation of fuel on uphills etc but i go up and down hills 20 degrees to 35 degrees and back down with only valve stem seals letting oil into the cylinder causing a bit of smoke.I also have 92 soft top with standard carb but horses for causes i really cant pick the differance in power or pickup as im over 40 so iam pretty sedate.

Jets-unsure, im still running the std weber filter i.e: Lynx etc its currently getting replaced as soon as the airbox is finished.

there is a huge power difference if you use a open type air filter (ramflow) if using the standard airbox then the adaptor for the carby to it can make a huge difference. the air has to come onto the top of the carby and not across it. otherwise the primary barrel will take all the air and will dog down when secondary opens. also you need to down size the jets if running the stock airbox. once mine gets tuned properly ill do a full post on all jet sizes, and adaptors needed to do it. fittments

i run 32/36 DGAV on mine, allbeit with a 1.6L vit motor, but the difference was ENORMOUS compared to the std carby... flooding uphill aint too bad, most of the terrain here you're only on that kind of angle for a brief time before coming down again anyway. ive noticed it doesnt occur till i pass 45 degrees or so, drops to hunting at 300-500rpm and stinks of fuel =)
i run the big fat round air filter right on top of the carby - bit scary when going in water, but generally ok if i take it slow =) im sure down the track an airbox to snorkel will be required.

hey alien. if you run a ramflow filter you will get better response and power as the weber is designed to draw air straight down into it not up and over the choke housing. they cost $50 but are worth the $$$.
Would you know the sizes of the jets you are using? (idle ,main and air jets).
the way to fix the flooding issues is to run the carby backwards with the float closer to the fireway. this way it will only flood on steep downhills or when stopping really hard.

hey dude - no idea what the jets are - i was that sick of the stocker i gave the zuk and the $$$ to a carby expert and said "go"... hehe
yeah i know of the backwards trick, maybe if it realllly annoys me but right now its not an issue =)
oh and it MEGA leans out under heavy braking... sometimes as low as 200rpm for a few seconds after stopping!!! that said im running vit rotors n calipers so i does stop rather fast compared to stock.

I am going to set up a snorkel on this Zook. Is there an adaptor for the top of the carby? If so, any idea of price?
I have an old stock set-up with the filter box inline, I am considering using this between the snorkel and the carb, only bit missing now will be something to sit right on top of the carby. Thinking about making up a box, sealed with a larger hose feeding in from the snorkel.

i've decided to draw up some plans and measurements, and get the local aluminium engineer guys to cut, bend, and weld it up for me. i figure it will cost almost the same as the adapter we are looking for.

ok ive been playin about with the weber again after reading a few discussions on some US forums. ive changed the settings again and its heaps better. this is what iv done
mount the weber backwards with the float closer to the firewall.
set the float properly to 41mm and 51mm (this is very important to tuning the jets)
read the info in the suzuki download archive on how to do this.
your auxillary venturis should be 3.5 prim & 4.5 sec
emulsion tubes are F66 primary & F50 secondary
idle jets are 60/55 (primary is still a bit small need to try a 65 or 70)
main jets are 130/127
air correctors are 170/160.
set your baseline tune and ya should be pretty close to the mark.
these work well on mine. my set up is ; stock engine and exhaust manifold with 2inch exhaust. stock airbox with finer filter and snorkel. inlet manifold has been ported out where carby mounts to allow better air flow. If your going to use an after market aircleaner & filter get the lynx ramflow filter. this allows the air to get sucked straight down into the carby like it was designed to do. the round/ rectangle crome filters are ok but restrict air. Same applies when adapting your stock airbox.

From what I can see in that photo you basically have a big hose (air ducting) hose clamped directly on top of the throats. Simple enough. How well does that seal at the carby end? is an adaptor used?
I'll have to have a look at how I can do something similar.

there is an adaptor in there if you look close enough. dont know who makes it or where ya can get one as this was already on the weber i bought from a swap meet. you could make your own but just make sure air enters in from the top.

Drove home from brizzy to cairns, so now its time to get stuck into this weber conversion Ok progress so far, ported the intake manifold to suit the adapter plate and ran the wire wheel thru it to clean in up. Nice Smooth and shiny . Made a neat throttle cable bracket out of old asian parts and put a rebuild kit thru the weber.
Engine:
G13a (1324cc)
lukey etractors, 2inch system, resonator and straight thru muffler
ported intake to suit adapter
Bosch gt40 ignition coil and spitfire 8mm leads
weber 32/36 on redline adapter plate
finer filter top mount foam air filter
Test:
So far i have tried;

Advance 10 BTDC
Results:
Bit jumpy just off idle, smooth from 1500 thru to 4500rpm bit boggy after that. secondary seems to be a bit rich idle mixture to lean.

richened the idle miture 1/4 turn
Results:
nice smooth off idle tho a bit of studdering around the 4500 mark, runs out of puff up high. But the weber is very loud meaning nearly close with the mains. Run out of jets round the 130-140 mark so gotta head down to carby shop and get a 135 for the secondary. Would like to try a 132 and 137 but they dont have the jets or drills in that size. Also getting a 65 and 70 idle primary jets.

try using a 4.5 auxilary venturi in the secondary. it allows the carb to suck more fuel at full throtle and you can then run a smaller main jet. mine is doing similar things at the moment.
Do you get any stuttering on initialtake off. if so try to get hold of a F66 e-tube.
ive learnt that you dont kneed more fuel at high revs just more air velocity.

Tried;
135/135 main
70/60 idles
160/170 airs
No jumping of idle very smooth on light throttle, tho has a sag round 3500-4000 and then round the 5200 mark. Will try a 140 pri main and a sec idle of 65. Also got hold of a few f9a emulsion tubes will try then out.
The setup atm is very close. Try Try again.......................
